Itzel Aguilar

$25.00

As a mestiza artist of Indigenous American and Spanish descent, my work is a living dialogue between ancestral memory and contemporary identity. Raised amid the complexities of generational trauma, migration, and resilience, I turn to art as a way to process, honor, and reimagine my roots. My creative practice is deeply informed by my family’s histories in Bustamante, Nuevo León and Villa Purificación, Jalisco. Through visual storytelling, I seek to uncover silenced narratives, preserve cultural memory, and explore the duality of belonging and displacement. Each piece I create is an offering—a bridge between the past and the present, the visible and the invisible. My purpose is not only personal healing but also collective awakening. I aim to amplify Indigenous and Latinx/e voices, foster community through collaboration, and create work that educates, connects, and transforms. As I continue to grow as an artist, my goal is to deepen this inquiry, expand my practice across borders, and remain rooted in truth, spirit, and legacy.
