It's knowing what you actually want and how to bring it to life. Emerge is DAC’s year-long career development program for artists who already have momentum and are ready to make serious, intentional changes to how their creative career operates.
Find out for yourself.
The hardest part of
being an artist isn't the art.
“What advice would you give your previous self before you started Emerge?”
Emerge may be right for you if:
You are already actively making and selling your work and/or creative services.
You have traction but feel unclear, inconsistent, or stretched.
You are ready to look seriously at pricing, finances, systems, audience, and expanding opportunities.
You want individualized feedback from experts, not just general education.
You can commit to the full program year.
You are ready to implement change, not just consume information and keep doing the same thing.
Emerge is not an introduction to being an artist. It is a transformational program for artists ready to build more intentionally.
Is Emerge right for you?
100% left with clear career direction
100% reported more predictable creative income
88% began declining opportunities that didn’t align with their goals
+215% combined YTD revenue growth among graduates actively pursuing commercial growth
The biggest shift wasn’t simply earning more. Artists became clearer about what they were building, more selective about where they spent their time, and more confident about the support they needed next.
What happened in the last cohort?
The Year Long Emerge Journey
-

December 2026
Before the program begins, you’ll complete a focused audit of your time, finances, habits, and current business structure.
The goal is to understand where you actually are before deciding where you’re going, and establish a clear baseline so you can track your transformation.
You’ll enter January with a clearer picture of:
how you spend your time
what your business is earning and costing
where you feel stretched or stuck
what needs your attention most
Outcome: A realistic baseline for the year ahead.
-

January–March 2027
This is the educational foundation of Emerge. Each week, you’ll move through guided learning designed to help you better understand yourself, your creative career, and the business behind it.
The Framework includes weekly virtual cohort meetings, workbook + video lessons, and AI-powered generative tools designed to deepen reflection and decision-making.
Topics built by artists, for artists:
mindset, growth + agility
time, space + project management
pricing logic + cash flow
diversification of revenue streams
marketing, branding + audience building
business systems
integration planning
Outcome: Greater clarity about what you’re building, what is holding you back, and what needs to happen next.
-

April–May 2027
After completing the Framework, you’ll move into one of two focused expert-support tracks based on what your creative career needs most.
Branding Bootcamp
For artists who need a stronger public-facing presence, with support around positioning, online presence, and a professional branding content photoshoot.Business Start-Up
For artists preparing to leave traditional employment, transition into self-employment, or strengthen the financial structure of an existing creative business, including 1:1 expert financial planning. One expert-support track is included with Emerge. Artists may add the second track for an additional fee.
Outcome: Targeted professional support based on the next stage of your career.
-

June–October 2027
Now you put the work into practice.
During the Opportunity Period, you’ll actively pursue and develop opportunities that align with the career you’ve been building.
Included opportunity support: Participate in West Side Creative Market with market fees covered, or receive up to $1,000 toward an approved professional opportunity.
You’ll also receive 1:1 consulting with Leah to help you navigate decisions, refine strategy, overcome roadblocks, and keep moving your vision forward.
Outcome: Real-world implementation supported by individualized consulting.
Final Activation + Program Completion
November–December 2027
The final stage of Emerge is about reflection, activation, and what comes next. You’ll look back at where you started, what changed, what you built, what you learned, and what still needs attention then use that insight to shape your next chapter.
The year concludes with a dedicated Emerge retreat and activation experience, followed by formal program completion.
From there, your relationship with Emerge evolves into alumni support, continued connection to the DAC ecosystem, and future opportunities for professional growth.
You’ll leave Emerge with a clear next-stage plan, a place in the Emerge alumni community, and the opportunity to apply to become a paid Emerge Mentor for future cohorts.
How the Emerge Program Ends
“Emerge actually gave me the proof that I could quit my nine-to-five, do this full-time, and not feel like I’m in burnout.”

A Cohort Built Around You
Artists are paired with accountability partners and pod groups based on similar goals, career stage, and business direction, so you’re surrounded by people building something that actually looks like what you’re building.
Expert Support + 1:1 Consulting
After the Framework, you move into targeted expert support based on what your career needs most: either Branding Bootcamp or Business Start-Up.
From there, 1:1 consulting helps you solve the actual business challenges in front of you.
This is not coaching from the sidelines. It is real-time problem solving applied directly to your creative business.
The Opportunity Period
This is where Emerge moves from learning into real-world action.
From June through October, you’ll actively pursue opportunities aligned with the career you’ve been building. Included opportunity support: Participate in West Side Creative Market with market fees covered, or receive up to $1,000 toward an approved professional opportunity.

Emerge is a year-long program, but the time commitment changes throughout the year.
During the January through March Framework, plan for approximately 4 to 6 hours per week. This includes:
Weekly 1-hour virtual meetings
Monthly 2-hour in-person meetings
Video lessons, workbook exercises, and digital tools
Check-ins with your accountability partner or pod
Time to apply what you are learning to your own creative career
From April through October, the weekly commitment is lighter and more individualized as you move into Expert Support, the Opportunity Period, and 1:1 consulting.
November and December focus on reflection, the final retreat, program completion, and your next-stage plan.
The artists who benefit most from Emerge treat the program as a standing commitment to their creative career, not something they fit in only when there is extra time.
-
The full program investment is $2,500.
Is that a lot? Yes. And it's intentional. You're not buying access to a course library or a stack of pre-recorded videos. You're getting a year of real human support, a cohort of artists doing the work alongside you, and direct access to experts when you actually need them (not to mention 1:1 consulting!). Humans are expensive, and we think what sets Emerge apart from Chat GPT is the human part, and that's a good thing.
Thanks to support from the Delaware Division of the Arts, we're able to keep that investment from reaching what a year of art school would cost. Payment plans are available, and so is financial support The full cost of Emerge is $2,500. Thanks to support from the Delaware Division of the Arts and philanthropic partners, eligible artists may apply for up to $1,500 in subsidy support, reducing their program cost to as little as $1,000.
-
Yes, and here's how we think about it.
Money is energy. So much of what Emerge teaches is how to conserve it, grow it, and make intentional decisions with it. That starts with your commitment to the program itself. We've tried offering Emerge for free before, and what we found is that without skin in the game, the transformation doesn't land the same way.
That said, we know cost can be a real barrier, and we don't want it to stop the right artist from applying. The full cost of Emerge is $2,500. Thanks to support from the Delaware Division of the Arts and philanthropic partners, eligible artists may apply for up to $1,500 in subsidy support, reducing their program cost to as little as $1,000.
If that's you, request financial support in your application. We review every artist individually and we'll take it from there.
-
Graduating from Emerge does not mean your support ends.
Once you complete the program, you become part of the Emerge alumni community and keep access to a continued learning portal where you can:
stay connected with other Emerge artists
continue building your business knowledge
revisit tools and resources
access new learning as your career evolves
tap back into expert support when you need it
Your needs will change over time. A year from now, you may need another professional photoshoot, additional financial planning, help with a new business system, or support around a new opportunity.
The goal is to keep you connected to the DAC ecosystem so you do not have to figure out every next step alone.
We also select certain alumni to return as paid Emerge Mentors, supporting future cohorts while continuing to grow as leaders within the artist community.
Emerge has a defined completion point, but your relationship with the program does not end there.

Apply for Emerge - Applications Due October 12th
You’re here for a reason.
Applications for the 2027 Emerge cohort are open now! We're selecting 20 Delaware artists who are ready to stop figuring it out alone. Worried about the cost? The full cost of Emerge is $2,500. Thanks to support from the Delaware Division of the Arts and philanthropic partners, eligible artists may apply for up to $1,500 in subsidy support, reducing their program cost to as little as $1,000.
We heard from DAC artists that they often felt forced to choose between paying to participate in Creative Market and investing in professional development that could move their careers forward.
So we changed the model.
Participation in West Side Creative Market is now included with Emerge. We’ll work with you to determine the number of market dates that actually make sense for your goals during the Opportunity Period.
Thanks to support from the Delaware Division of the Arts, eligible artists may be able to participate in Emerge and Creative Market for less than the cost of a full Creative Market season alone.
And if Creative Market is not the right opportunity for your career, you can instead propose another professional opportunity and receive up to $1,000 in approved support toward putting your Emerge strategy into action.
West Side Creative Market is now part of the Emerge program.
“To be able to surround myself with a community of like-minded creative souls — that’s worth gold to me.”
Please, stop trying to figure this out on your own.
It really doesn’t have to be so hard.
Emerge puts you in a room (virtual and in-person) with artists who are doing the same work, facing the same fears, and showing up for each other. The framework gives you structure. The cohort gives you fuel.
Most artists who join Emerge say the community was the thing they didn't know they needed.
You are not joining a room of random artists.
Your pod and accountability partner are intentionally matched around similar goals, career stage, and business direction, so the relationships you build are actually useful to the work you are doing.
Don’t just take our word for it!

Brittney B. - Fine Artist
“Before Emerge, I felt like I was constantly spinning my wheels. Doing a lot, but not really moving forward. This program helped me slow down, get clear, and actually build a foundation for my art business that makes sense.”
-

Mike Jo - Murals & Graphic Artist
“Emerge challenged me in the best way. It made me take a hard look at how I was showing up and pushed me to be more consistent, more intentional, and more serious about my work.”
-

Jeff A. - Fantasy Fine Illustration Artist
“I’ve invested in a lot of things over the years, but Emerge is the first time I felt like everything actually connected. The structure, the support, the accountability, it all works together in a way that finally made things click.”
-

Caitlin W. Clothing & Graphic Design
“The pricing tool has just changed my life. I was completely undervaluing my work and my time… I’m worth this price, and I’m not budging on it.”
The Secret Sauce of Emerge
This is our 2025 cohort at their final meeting. Yes, we lit things on fire.
Because Emerge is not just about learning how to run a creative business. It is also about changing the way you think, make decisions, and show up in your career.
Throughout the program, we intentionally build in mindset work, reflection, accountability, and honest conversations about what is working, what is not, and what needs to change.
We select artists for Emerge based not only on the strength of their work, but on their willingness to grow, experiment, receive feedback, and take action.
The goal is not to turn you into a different kind of artist. It is to help you become more intentional about the career you are building around your work.
By the end of Emerge, artists are not just clearer about pricing, marketing, or finances. They are clearer about themselves, their priorities, the opportunities they want to pursue, and the kind of creative life they actually want to build.
That is where the real transformation happens.
